Town in Wisconsin wants to externalize the impact of a data center to their neighboring village.

In Menomonie Wisconsin, one town’s council is also annexing land of a neighboring town, and externalizing the impact to the people in this other town that they don’t have to answer to, and who can’t vote them out.

Text: nobody would want to be there at all. uh property values you know in some of these places have not just been reduced they’ve been zeroed out so this is also my community smaller it doesn’t affect the city but it affects us as well i was told by a fellow neighbor that a councilman said to her well we don’t want it in the city This is very, very concerning to me as I live on 690th. And while the land for the data center may be rezoned, our addresses will remain red cedar. Who is looking out for us on this council? That is just really something else. The city is annexing this land and externalizing the impact to the people in this other town that they don’t have to answer to. It’s almost unbelievable. It shocks the conscience that this is how things are operating.
