You have a week to learn the electric slide.

No letters or commentary today because I was on vacation.

I was on vacation this past week camping and hiking and getting a year older, so no letters today.

That leaves you with some time to learn or practice up on your electric slide line dance moves for your local No Kings event on October 18th. Maybe in Portland you can get a tutorial on the fly, but don’t rely on that.

Here’s a video I recorded (on a potato) in October 2004 at the Memorial AIDS Walk event in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania where I was taking (still) photos of the event when some of the students started doing the electric slide dance on Public Square so I figured that required video. These kids are probably near 40 now.

You don’t have to be Gregory Hines or perfect — these people were all cheating on the grapevine moves, which I think, and especially at my age, is probably a good idea if you’re doing this out in the street on pavement. Safety first. And on that note, please get yourself N95 masks, and mask up especially if you’ve got the sniffles or a cough on October 18th if you’re heading out to the crowds of old ladies I know of who are planning to attend No Kings.
