Of course this incident, being reported in October 2025, originated during the hysterical campaign to go after anyone who criticized Charlie Kirk by quoting him.
My letter to reps:
I’m shocked and appalled that police arrested someone in Tennessee for bringing to light that Donald Trump said people “have to get over it” with regards to just putting up with mass shootings. If he doesn’t want anyone quoting him on that, he should publicly retract that statement, apologize, and say he was wrong. I wonder how many times people are jailed unconstitutionally without it being reported because they’re not middle class white male retired police officers? How many lawsuits will have to be paid out to make people whole after violating their rights? Arresting people for exercising their first amendment right is both unconstitutional and unAmerican. Elected representatives should be condemning these transgressions by law enforcement, politically based abuse of power, and demanding due process for all.
