I realize this is funny. But there’s a dark risk to the mechanism of this type of social contagion.

The information zombies of pandemic misinformation.
There are things that have stuck with people from the beginning of the pandemic when we didn’t know much, and science & clinical information on covid was new, but we need to move with the times.
People are not even talking about the same things and this is dangerous.
I don’t think most people realize that many times we think we’re talking about the same thing, but in fact, we’re not actually on the same page with the underlying premise or even basic facts.
Public health officials, advocates, and health workers need to be on guard.
The threats are real. We all need to demand from representatives in government and law enforcement officials that violence based on this wild anti-health campaign be prevented.
Don’t lead with a lie.
Most people don’t actually ever see beyond the headline. It’s a problem if someone starts with the thing they’re planning on debunking, and editor’s notes (or community notes) are probably not effective enough because of this reality.
Multiple motivations behind atrocities.
“She labels those who killed ‘joiners’, because they were motivated not primarily by a desire to kill Tutsi but by a desire to be fully part of the group that was taking part in the killing (Fujii, 2009).”
Politicians are out of touch.
Politicians are in info cocoons, just like we all have a tendency to be these days, and they’re not listening, or maybe not hearing enough from enough of us.
Why do people just accept putting up with contaminated information?
I’m not against media literacy education, but that’s not going to solve everything because it’s just too time consuming to research everything yourself.
Gaslighting & manufacturing normal to minimize concerns is not the right direction to go in.
The coverage of threats by the media and the statements from community leaders are an exercise in elite panic, and that’s certainly not what we need.
Trump & Elon downsizing the government.
Trump administration offers all federal workers Elon Musk Twitter styled job buyout framed as a way to avoid Return To Office mandates.
Trump administration attempts to impound appropriations under the responsibility of Congress.
The odd memo out of the White House that started freezing access to Medicaid portals and threatened to shut down daycares is some pretty wild overreach…
Bizarre RFKJR confirmation hearing.
RFKJr is a terrible anti-vaxxer. But there are so many other problems as well with him taking over the entirety of the federal healthcare in the US. The threat can’t be overstated.
No social media platform is a safe space – people need to diversify.
I’ve been saying this for years, that people are foolish if there’s only one social media platform where they say something or publish important information. But even among the people who’ve heard me, most have never listened to me. I think mainly because people fall in love with a platform, they are habit forming. They […]
Childhood milestone pandemic misinformation zombie.
There’s a need to resist tantalizing stories that are not true and may actually be harmful, no matter how relatable and true the narrative may seem initially.
Who is working to protect healthcare workers & public health advocates from the threats of anti-vaxxers?
My letter to reps: What are you doing to protect doctors, healthcare workers, and public health officials and disabled and senior advocates from violent anti-vaxxers? There have been openly stated plans that county officials are planning to deputize anti-vaxxers to go after people with “swatting raids” and livestream the events. This doesn’t sound legal to […]
Online communities centered around products, services, or investments are a threat to money, time, and social networks.
I recommend watching this youtube documentary about Bed Bath & Beyond memestock community it’s sad and fascinating and unfortunately all too familiar because this type of thing seems to be widespread.
Eugenics is always a pseudoscience hoax.
It’s just an ideology, and a bad one based in accelerationist hopium and ableism, and racism. Mother Jones – January 2, 2025 – Eugenics Isn’t Dead—It’s Thriving in Tech – A new book takes on the throughline from the rise of 20th-century eugenics to Silicon Valley. – Julia Métraux The US psychologist and eugenicist Henry Goddard played an […]
Deregulation is another way of saying buyer beware.
I’ve also heard it said a few times that it should just be called “re-regulation” because in fact what so-called deregulation does is just switch the regulation from protecting consumers to protecting bad actors.
AI search is not a search engine, it’s just dysfunctional.
We should not be forced to use this stuff in order to access information on the internet.
