Kicked out of an event and sent an intimidation letter from the sheriff… over laughing at a public event in Tennessee.

Kicked out of GOP Event for Laughing – Jezebel Vibes Aug 27, 2025

The Local Sheriff Sent Me a Letter… Jezebel Vibes Sep 10, 2025

The police were pretty much embarrassing themselves. When asked why is laughing wrong, law enforcement said it was disruptive, and when asked why clapping wasn’t disruptive, the policeman said “because they’re clapping for something they agree with”. So that says it all doesn’t it.

Dissent is patriotic.

Law enforcement told them that putting up a sign against the outside of the window was supposedly “violating the rights of other people” at the event. Presumably because it was something they didn’t want think about. People on the inside later covered the windows with advertisement posters promoting “raw milk revival” and seed oil conspiracy theories. Some of the discourse I heard, among other very hard far right kooky but disturbing and problematic ideas, were covid denial and someone saying they don’t want soldiers in the military to get vaccinated for anthrax. Yikes.

But I love to see my fellow pro-democracy Appalachians standing up and speaking up. Especially in an area where wacky people entrenched in positions of power are way too accustomed to excluding people and bullying people and getting away with it without comment.

Dissent is patriotic.
