New York times Article says:
“There’s been little research into what, exactly, a month off alcohol can do for your health. And the benefits will depend on how much and how frequently you drank before, said Danielle Dick, a professor and director of the Rutgers Addiction Research Center.”
It’s a carcinogen! Any less intake you do is going to be a benefit, this is simple logic, very straight-forward math. Go ahead and do what you want, this is NOT about judging people’s vice choices. People do all sorts of things that are detrimental, and make all sorts of tradeoffs for different reasons. But this is objective truth. There’s a mountain of evidence that there’s no safe amount of alcohol, so that means any amount less is better. You don’t need research to very specifically study the benefits of one month off per year. That statement is a pretzel logic red herring cognitive trick.
The risks and harms associated with drinking alcohol have been systematically evaluated over the years and are well documented. The World Health Organization has now published a statement in The Lancet Public Health: when it comes to alcohol consumption, there is no safe amount that does not affect health.
