People are rallying for the artist saying that the Trump admin should pay the artist for his work; but that would just mean taxpayer money would be paying for racist paintings. How is that a win?

Don’t lead with a lie.
Most people don’t actually ever see beyond the headline. It’s a problem if someone starts with the thing they’re planning on debunking, and editor’s notes (or community notes) are probably not effective enough because of this reality.
The problem with going to social media for “information”.
Yes, this is something I hear about regularly, people saying how they’re relying on social media sources for “good information” and seeking it nowhere else.
Hinting atrocities.
I just keep racking up instances where I see things going on in the US that are eerily familiar to things I’ve read about Rwanda. Seems problematic.
The disinfo campaigns around the pandemic are the same disinfo campaigns around climate change.
It’s part of a whole disinformation economy.
