Online communities centered around products, services, or investments are a threat to money, time, and social networks.

Almost any flawed org, coffee klatch, or chat group is going to have more social ROI and less disinformation than mixing it up with fake accounts and targeted marketing on the big platforms.

Yes, this is something I hear about regularly, people saying how they’re relying on social media sources for “good information” and seeking it nowhere else.

I just keep racking up instances where I see things going on in the US that are eerily familiar to things I’ve read about Rwanda. Seems problematic.

No, we don’t need some big company’s social media algorithm to connect on the internet.
Email still exists by the way. Just sayin’.
Communities have been, and continue to be, manipulated.
Public health isn’t about a niche group with special or secret practices, and community care shouldn’t be gate kept away from people who for whatever reason haven’t been afforded information or opportunity.

It’s really problematic that so often good information is behind paywalls, and disinformation is of course made free, for maximum spread for deceit.
The same problems continue no matter the platform.
