The Intercept – The Feds Are Coming for “Extremist” Gamers The Department of Homeland Security and FBI are in dialog with Roblox, Discord, Reddit, and others. Ken Klippenstein March 9 2024
While there is no federal law that criminalizes domestic violent extremism as a category of crime, since 2019 the U.S. government has employed five domestic terrorism threat categories. These are defined by the FBI and DHS as racial/ethnically motivated violent extremism, anti-government/anti-authority violent extremism, animal rights or environmental violent extremism, abortion-related violent extremism, and all other domestic terror threats.
We all know this means they’re gonna be infiltrating disability support group discords, trolling vegan forums, spying on lefty labor chat groups, trying to entrap various and sundry activists into doing something foolish, or maybe sabotaging things, or just causing pointless flame war fights that dismantle support groups, and just generally fooling around messing with progressive voters under the claim they need to root out mythical communists. I do not expect law enforcement put a focus on violent right-wingers who threaten, harass, or attack, innocent people.
