The memory holing of the misuse of Arlington Cemetery.

I wrote to Bob Casey about Trump’s Arlington Cemetery political campaign stunt and my concerns about the threats to the staff member, and basically asking why this was just swept under the rug. The response I got is less than confidence inspiring, my U.S. Senator, Bob Casey, Democrat, told me firmly that’s that.

Getting this reminder after the memory holing of this event is additionally jarring.

My letter which was sent via contact form online Friday 30 August 2024:

If it was against the law to be in Arlington Cemetery doing an ad event for a political campaign, and there’s photographic and video evidence from the Trump campaign itself…. why is the staff involved in deciding whether to press charges? Who’s making this decision? This is like saying the bank can’t expect the bank robber to be charged if a bank teller declined to press charges. That’s not how it works. And in this case, the bank is we the people, the American people. The U.S. Army isn’t a private corporation. This is very troubling how this is being mishandled completely. They’re going to go after that cemetery staff person anyway, they already are. They’re smearing people like me with PTSD as if it’s an insult to call someone mentally ill. Furthermore, this is normalizing political abuse of psychiatry by making it out that anyone enforcing a rule or law is “having a mental breakdown” if someone doesn’t like it and wants to break the law unopposed. This incident, and the failure to respond appropriately, makes a mockery of all laws, and the rule of law itself.

Senator Bob Casey’s reply which i received by email Monday 7 October 2024:

reply from senator bob casey about the arlington cemetery trump campaign incident.

Why is this acceptable to everyone? How many of these transgressions are we going to memory hole on purpose with bipartisan support? What worse transgressions will be swept under the rug?
